Lesson 011 - kick back one-track min
M: I'm glad we made it to DC. It's a good time to just kick back and relax.
M: No,翻譯, I don't! I just mean to relax with my friend,天成翻譯社, you.
M: Yes. Last weekend we were in New York and kicked back with your friends, remember?
M: Yeah, it can be used that way as well. When one person pays someone else in return for a job or a contract.
M: When you mean corruption, kickback is one word. When it means to relax, kick back is two words.
M: Yeah, that company executive got a kickback. Well, enough about kickback. Do you want to go to any of the panels this afternoon?
M: Ok, maybe once we are done with the panel we can go out and do something fun.
M: Ok, ok. Geez, you have such a one track mind sometimes. Do you know what a one track mind is?
M: No, I'm not making fun of you. One track mind means you are only thinking about one thing all the time. Today all you have been thinking about is coffee. You should remember this phrase, it's commonly used.
M: Yeah, you can say that. It's amazing how much she works, never does much of anything else.
M: Yeah, there's one particular girl I think about.
M: Here's your coffee shop, two coffees please!

Jessica; Xiaobei! You look upset. What happened?
Jessica: I see. You're so tired of your friend's excuses that you are speechless.
XB: Speechless?
Jessica: Yes. For example, you can say "she was speechless after learning her boyfriend was dating another woman."
Jessica: Exactly. Basically, you can use "speechless" to mean something so bad or so surprising that you don't know what to say.
XB: I see. Every time I see her being so fake, I'm speechless!
Jessica: I bet you also roll your eyes!
XB: Roll my eyes?
Jessica: If you roll your eyes, you're showing that you don't believe someone or you aren't interested in what they're saying.
I got an email saying I was selected to win 5 million dollars. It also asked for my bank account.
Jessica: That's fishy! It must be a scam!
XB: 我诚然曉得這是欺騙郵件了!I rolled my eyes when I read it!
Jessica: That would blow me away! Meaning I'd be really amazed!
Jessica: Exactly. For example, My new computer ran so fast it blew me away!
XB: Or Jessica has so much cash hidden under her bed it blows me away!
Jessica: What? Me? Cash? Now I'm rolling my eyes, Xiaobei!

Lesson 021 - Remembering Names
(Office ambience)
C: Hi, Amy.
A: What is it?
A: I have a simple way to remember names.
A: I have an acronym that helps me.
A: An acronym is an abbreviation formed by using the first letter of words in a phrase or name.
A: The acronym I use to remember names is FACE. F stands for focus。
A: The "A" is for ask. Repeat the name in the form of a question. For example, if you are introduced to Bill, 你就能夠問, "Bill?"
It is natural that you would want to verify the name and make sure you heard correctly.
A: The "C" is for comment. Make a comment about the person's name - a comment that connects the name to someone or something that you can recall later.
Bill? As in President Bill Clinton?"
It is also a conversation starter so now you see why you don't need to worry about what to say next. It comes naturally.
M:"E" stands for employment. Employ means to use the name in conversation with the person. Using the name helps you remember it.
A:I am happy to repeat it. First you focus and think only of the other person's name. Next you ask or repeat the name in the form of a question. Then you make a comment about the name. Finally you employ or use the name while you are speaking with the person.
C: Thank you.

Taylor Swift says she has a lot to learn about life – including getting the love part just right.
After romances with Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and most recently, Conor Kennedy, Swift tells PARADE that caution isn't her strong suit when entering a relationship.
"I don't think there's an option for me to fall in love slowly, or at medium speed. I either do or I don't," says Swift, 22, who is currently rumored to be dating Harry Styles of One Direction.
"I don't think it through, really, which is a good and a bad thing. You don't look before you leap, which is like, 'Yay, this is awesome! Let's not think twice!' And then you're like, 'We used to be flying. Now we're falling. What's happening?'"
Her boyfriend foibles often famously make it into her songs, including "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," but Swift says contrary to what some people may think, she's not sure she's ever been in love.
"I tend to think things are love and then look back and reevaluate," she explains. "I know how many people I've said 'I love you' to. I could probably count it up, but I don't feel like it."
"Part of me feels like you can't say you were truly in love if it didn't last," she continues. "If I end up getting married and having kids, that's when I'll know it's real – because it lasted."
